Max.....MAX!!!
I just found out at Donna Lethal's that there's a "rumor" going around which says that dear, daffy Liza is set to play Norma Desmond....yes, that Norma Desmond, in "Sunset Boulevard". I'm having big trouble wrapping my head around the campiest thing on two surgically altered legs bringing a serious nuance to a role that has always bordered on high camp. In the correct hands, we know how well it can be done. I predict it will be "Mommie Dearest" with Faye and "The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore" with Tallulah redux. Though I wish Liza happiness, money and whatever else she wants, I hope she says no to this late term abortion of an idea and stays where she belongs, playing Lucille 2 in the "Arrested Development" movie.
And who knew the brows were tats?
She looks just like her father.

I think you would make the better choice!
ay...prepare yourself......SLAP!
ReplyDeletefb: well, look at you!
This is NOT the way to go.
ReplyDeleteOf course, in my view, a Broadway musical version was not the way to go either. It is on perfect piece of cinema that should be left alone. Bowed before, and left alone.
It reminds me of an old friend of mine, a screenwriter, who told me of a meeting that Jane Fonda called with him, back in the eighties, to discuss writing a remake of All About Eve for her. He told her that, not only would he never consider rewriting what he considered the most perfect screenplay of all, he would honestly implore her not to take this idea to anyone else.
My guess is this is a film version of the musical and it will never get off the ground ... although in a way, I wish it would. Can you imagine THIS bad movie night at Chez Lethal?! We'd have to fly everyone in!
ReplyDeleteyes! SB w/liza would certainly be fly-in worthy.
ReplyDeletei must tell you felix, that i do love you. way back, when SB was on broadway and this one and that one were running to see it & singing it's praises, i shook my head in defiance. i remain steadfast in my feelings. i just hated that webber took it made it something else. i always thought his musical elevated carol burnett's spoof to high art. yes! some things are meant to be left alone.
"they took the idols and smashed them!"
Telly Savalas grew some hair recently?
ReplyDeleteI think she could handle the part of the monkey they bury in the first act.
ReplyDeletei'd imagine she'd overact.
ReplyDeleteand mr.peenee, nice to see you...i think.
Oh...no. Although, as horrid of an idea as it is, I'd be the first in line to see it.
