Bernie Schwartz

When in Budapest a few years ago, we visited the Doheny Synagogue, the largest shul in eastern Europe. Outside is this memorial, which was funded in part by Tony, the son of Hungarian jews. I had no idea of this, so I was quite surprised to walk over and see a plaque with Tony's name on it. Contributers can purchase a "leaf" that is inscribed with the name of a Holocaust victim. Of course, I've featured dear TC here at mittendrinnen before.

  1. Oh my that's a beautiful memorial. Is it stainless steel? I would think the ends of the branches sway in the wind. Lovely.
