Happened to see a photo of Anna Nicole Smith on the latest Los Angeles magazine. This got me wondering; I work with people that were quite broken up when she died. This amazed me. I'm guessing there's already a generation coming up that have no idea who Miss Smith was, myself included. Soon, she will be a very trivial pursuit question, yes? And that brings me to Marilyn. Do you think her candle burns as brightly as it did? What with Warhol, the 60s and into the 70s, Marilyn was almost alive. Even the 80s seemed unready to give her up. But now, I think she's slipping away. Am I wrong? Is it just me slipping away?
To answer this question, I would consult a professional impersonators agency.
ReplyDeleteElvis impersonators, for example, are still in big demand.
Could the same be said of Marilyn impersonators?
I can't really answer that. Living in Hollywood and not the 'real world' give me a skewed perspective. She is still big here though.
ReplyDeleteWho now remembers Lillie Langtree? Everyone slips into history. Marilyn has a better chance of immortality having been captured on film. But sometime in the near future film may be considered as dead as vaudeville. Time marches on, different than before and never to be the same again.
ReplyDeleteTime for that cocktail.
mj: i phoned an agency. all the help was out impersonating you.
ReplyDeletefelix: she's still big? inches please.
flowerbell: hi! you're right, make mine a double.
You to go any old queens apartment and you'll find a picture or poster of Marilyn tacked up someplace.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Anna Nicole is concerned I don't think she ever had real talent or lasting power. Now that baby of hers...we better watch out for her eventual implosian.
If "The River of No Return" is playing on the TV or any of her old movies, I stop everything and settle in.
ayem8y, you know you're watching that sh*t for Rory Calhoun and Robert Mitchum.
