MOVIE REMAKE: THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH

WHO'S A CONTEMPORARY ACTOR THAT
COULD PLAY THE TOM EWELL PART?

  1. That is the question isn't it? and I heard the other day a remake of the Honeymooners is coming. You can't top the originals, I don't care how hard they try.

  2. I think it should be remade as a wry contemporary comedy with a Sapphic twist: Sigorney Weaver plays a repressed businesswoman in Manhattan for a business trip. When her midtown hotel suffers an HVAC crisis, she turns to AirBnB and scores a little place in the Village. There she encounters a free-spirited young artist (Elle Fanning if the budget's limited; Jennifer Lawrence if not) whose blithely anarchic worldview changes everything. With Olympia Dukakis as a cranky old poet, living upstairs, who dispenses one-liners and life lessons and Sean Hayes as the flamboyant neighbor who helps make the course of true love run smooth.

  3. Woody Allen (channeling Alvy Singer).

    Did I win yet?

  4. The Mistress watches TCM and is not familiar with contemporary actors.

  5. Bruce Willis or the Ahnold, they always come in handy in an "embarrassing" situation like this one.

    1. If Ahnold wasn't foreign born, he'd probably already be the president.

  6. The "blonde" upstairs, tempting the husband that was left home alone? And she
wears a hijab? And she's a suicide bomber? I'm getting a Sacha Baron Cohen vibe.
