Blasto from MY Pasto

Back in February of last year, when I was working through my collection of MGM snapshots, I did a post that included this photo. Once the guesses were in, I surmised that this might be Madge Blake, but as I wrote back then, I wasn't very sure. Turns out I was right about my uncertainty. Just turned on the television, which was tuned to TCM (what else?). At that very moment, I saw this woman on the screen! Yes, I shrieked. The film was, "The Yellow Cab Man" starring Red Skelton. I zoomed to imdb.com to check out the cast and an answer still eludes me. It could be someone named Edith Leslie, she was credited as "Big Woman." I could find no photo of Edith online, though I haven't given it much effort.

Here's three more who are they?

Everyone was right!

Don't you just love that? The petalesque FlowerBell was correct with her answer of Jean Hagen...YAY! But I cannot say that Muscato was wrong with his answer of Jeff Chandler and MJ was certainly correct with her observation as well! Bouquets for you all! As to the identity of the other woman, I thought she might be Madge Blake, but I'm not feeling very secure with this speculation. According to imdb, Madge appeared in only one movie in 1949, "Adam's Rib", playing uncredited as Spencer Tracy's mother. I've been searching and have yet to find a listing of MGM's production schedule. Anyone know of a book or site with this info? You see, I've got other snapshots which have stumped me.

And here are a few more to ponder.....

The End of Suspense

Arnold Moss (January 28, 1909 in Brooklyn, New York – December 15, 1989 in New York City) was an American character actor often playing sly or sinister foreigners. Here he is as "Vidaru" in the episode "Everywhere A Sheik, Sheik" on The Monkees.

===================================================================================================
Sarah Churchill, daughter of Winston, made her American film debut in MGMs Royal Wedding(aka Wedding Bells in the UK). I'm gonna guess that my snapshot is from that film, Royal Wedding having been released in 1951. (not to mention the blouse & jewelry match up with color photo below).

Ann Sothern and Gale Sondergaard

And thank you TJB@SSUWAT ....look at my BIG PICTURES!

Of course I don't know for sure, but I'm gonna guess that Ann's snapshot is either from Nancy Goes To Rio or Shadow on the Wall. Both were released in 1950. As for Gale, her photo must've been taken for East Side, West Side whose tagline was, "I was married to a man other women pursued!"

All I have to say is, who isn't? Gale's billing was directly below that of one Nancy Davis. The real stars of the film were Barbara Stanwyck, James Mason, Van Heflin, Ava Gardner and Cyd Charisse. Heck of a cast. Sadly, I've got none of them in wardrobe test shots. Shucks.

Guess Who?

Many years ago, not long after the MGM Grand Hotel opened in Las Vegas, someone, a most wonderful someone, found a box of old snapshots in the hotel's gift store. (The same someone that made sure I got Esther's photo's). It was stuffed with old black & white wardrobe test shots and she decided to buy me some. They weren't cheap and she wasn't rolling in dough at the time, but put together a nice selection of photos....a great gift! Some of the subjects we knew right off, others not so. (This was long before the internet). Since then, only a few were never "named". I'm gonna throw some of these up...without labeling them. Many will be easy to identify, others, maybe not.

Here's a hint....guy on the right? He's a singer.

ANY IDEAS?
