Back in February of last year, when I was working through my collection of MGM snapshots, I did a post that included this photo. Once the guesses were in, I surmised that this might be Madge Blake, but as I wrote back then, I wasn't very sure. Turns out I was right about my uncertainty. Just turned on the television, which was tuned to TCM (what else?). At that very moment, I saw this woman on the screen! Yes, I shrieked. The film was, "The Yellow Cab Man" starring Red Skelton. I zoomed to imdb.com to check out the cast and an answer still eludes me. It could be someone named Edith Leslie, she was credited as "Big Woman." I could find no photo of Edith online, though I haven't given it much effort.

Looks like Red Skelton to me. I'd recognize those oversized cankles anywhere.
ReplyDeleteNever liked Madge Blake ever.

All I could find. If they are correct she is born 1904. Maybe you can find other photographs/stills from the films on the list. I am not good in identifying people.
ReplyDeletebtw, I can not enlarge the photo, so can not look myself - does she wear a veil, or was the photograph manipulated?
ReplyDeletepeenee: hell-o darling, so nice of you pop in.
ReplyDeletedavid: didn't mean to upset you.
mago: thank you doll! i'm gonna check out some books.
Crap. What is happening to my comments!
ReplyDeleteI said "How do we go from a street address of 44 to 68"
Could she be related to "Amanda Leslie" the gal from "Bates Motel"? Just youtube the phenomenal Gay Carrington on You Tube and you'll see the greatest movie performance ever!
