I'M HAVING NO LUCK ZEROING IN ON THE IDENTITY OF THE MYSTERY LADY FROM "THE YELLOW CAB MAN." I DID FIND THIS BASICALLY USELESS STILL FROM THE MOVIE AND WE CAN SEE THAT THE OUTFIT IS THE SAME AS IT IS IN MY WARDROBE SNAPSHOT.
WELL, WE CAN BARELY SEE IT.
IN THIS SHOT, SHE LOOKS LIKE RETA SHAW.
MAN! I LOVE me some Reta Shaw!
ReplyDeleteIt is the same person: Hat and gloves fit; on her left shoulder the pattern of the gown is visible and it fits.
ReplyDeleteNo name or further picture from the list of films? There must be another picture of the lady.
ReplyDeleteIf it is Edith Leslie (1904-1973) she may have appeared as "Sister Angelique" in "Green Dolphin Street" (1947) and as a character called "Big Mary (or something" on a 60s tv show called "The Big Valley".
ReplyDeleteYes, Big Mary: Here's the source of my wisdom.
ReplyDeletemago, you're very sweet to go to such trouble. i too trolled around, clicking here & there. i was able to eliminate a few choices, but a true answer remains elusive. not to worry, i'm still alive and have much patience.
ReplyDeleteI love Reta Shaw.
ReplyDeleteIf it is Edith Leslie, here's some more information. Jx

ReplyDeleteDonna & Norma, Have either of your ever read "Underfoot in Show Business" By Helene Hanff(she of 84 Charing Cross Rd) She tells the story of working summer stock in Maine tending box Office with a school teacher who could never balance the box office books. At the end of the season said school teacher left Maine for Hollywood having been bitten by the acting bug to become character actress Reta Shaw.
ReplyDeletei guess i know what book to look for next!
